Jack Shepherd, famous author of mystery novels, was diagnosed with hodgkins lymphoma, an aggressive cancer of the lymph system. He declined rapidly, and was told he would be dead within six months. His wife, Judi, and their close friends could not accept this; and if anything was possible to change his prognosis, they were going to find it. The human genome experimentation had come a long way in correcting disease through genetic modification in embryos and newborn. These boundaries were currently being stretched by the medical profession to treat toddlers, and maybe this kind of treatment could help Jack survive.
